Grant Writer

Christopher Gorman

If you’re reading this bio you must enjoy reading bio’s. I salute you.

Where to start. At the beginning? Chronological biographies - meh. At the end - al la Christopher Nolan’s Memento? I’d only confuse myself. Go straight to the heart of it. That’s the way.

“I broke from working on the ‘inside’ (of Government), to freelance on the outside, to build a bridge from the outside, back to the inside, so the outsiders can relate to the insiders, who decide how best to spread jam - outside.”

Why Gorman Grants?

I’ve recently hit ‘pause’ on a 16 year Government career to pursue freelancing, as I work and travel around Australia with my wife - a registered nurse and composer.

There’s an urgent need to help creatives to access the support available to them through grants. Grants will help to sustain employment, develop new works and provide opportunities for creative community participation, particularly in the face of the global coronavirus pandemic.

I’m excited to support the creative professions.

  • Member of the Australian Grant Makers Institute (AGMI).

  • Former program / grant manager for NSW Government.

In my free time I enjoy taking photographs, reading, and exploring the arts.

Grant writing —

with care and flair.

So you STAND OUT.

Make an impression.

My background.

I know what grant-makers look for in their applicants.

On the inside of government I learnt the language of policies, strategies, and grant objectives, value for money and evaluation. I’ve worked in governance, risk management, business improvement, and business planning.

I was the Program Manager Everyone Can Play (NSW Government) — a grant program to create more inclusive play spaces in NSW. I was responsible for coordinating the grant management processes, including: development of grant guidelines, application form, assessment methodology, I provided the secretariat for the Assessment Panel, implemented a grant management system (SmartGrants), managed the funding agreements, acquittal, and program reporting to the Department Planning, Industry and Environment.

See my career profile at LinkedIn.

My values.

I take satisfaction in connecting creative projects to funding sources, playing a small role bringing about their success. I enjoy the process of understanding my clients work and carving out a compelling case to win the funding.

“I delight in working with all types of artists, to support their preparation of a well researched and credible proposal.”

I offer a personalised and down-to-earth service underpinned by a high level of integrity and honesty. I’m committed to provide my clients with gentle guidance and support needed for every individual grant application, from start to finish.
